Research

Integrating Ireland's research programme provides the first steps in raising public awareness, in the development of advocacy work and in resources to support membership action. For its current research programme, Integrating Ireland has identified five core areas:
  • Regularization
  • Alternatives to direct provision
  • Right to work/recognition of qualifications
  • Integration experiences of African families
  • Integration of immigrant youth
Integrating Ireland focus is on the production of strong and comprehensive reports from the various research works commissioned as part of the organisation’s Business Plan 2006-2009. This research addresses three key aims:
  • Redress the lack of comprehensive data on immigration and integration in Ireland
  • Highlight Irish, European and international models of good practice
  • Develop evidence based policy positions
Other pieces of research planned include information needs of immigrants and the Irish perception of immigrants. The research programme also depends on the policy work that Integrating Ireland carries out on issues of importance for its constituency; these can change with circumstances or needs.
