National Training

 

National Community Development & Project Coordination Training Programme (October 2006-October 2007)

The programme, coordinated by Integrating Ireland and delivered in partnership with CAN - Community Action Training, aimed to strengthen the skills, knowledge and confidence of those representing and working with migrant, immigrant, refugee or asylum seekers from a community development approach. Participants engaged in eight three-day modules throughout the course of one year, including Social Policy Analysis, Community Development Theory, Community Development Practice, Organisational Management, Group Work, Conflict Management, Supervision Skills, Communications and Media.

 

Eighteen representatives from new communities graduated on October 25th 2007, receiving a certificate in the program and qualifying for a Fetac level 6 accreditation. Representatives came from organisations including Akidwa, Eritrean Community In Ireland, Waterford Immigration Network, Knit Project Kildare, Algerian Community Of Ireland, New Communities Partnership, Rialto Community Network, Mosney Intercultural Forum, Le Cheile Mill Street, Louth African Women’s Support Group, Ascali Association of Cameroon, Cork Intercultural Group, Tralee Refugee Support Services, Monaghan Womens’ Multi Cultural Group, Galway Peoples Resource Centre, Galway Refugee Support Group, Nasc Cork, and  Mayo Intercultural Action.

 

National Train-The-Trainer Program (2008-2009)

Following on from the success of its first training program, Integrating Ireland is working to design the delivery of train-the-train modules for organisations to assist in providing training to local members. More information on this program will be available in Spring 2008.

 

Individual Modules

Topical training on issues such as the Active Citizenship Voter Education Programme was offered to members in March 2007, in alliance with the Vincentian Partnership for Social Justice.
